This list comes from a University of Texas study published August 2007 issue of the Archives of Sexual Behavior (Study PDF). It asked 400 students and volunteers why they had sex. Keep in mind, most of the subjects were college-age students (which may certainly influence the top 20 reasons, below).

This is great, thanks
READ THIS
A couple of the reasons are double-posted, and several of them are redundant.
I was thinking the same exact thing.
#28 and #63 are literally identical. this list needs some curating
This list frickin rocks. We printed a copy and hung it at our store!
#238 ~ Her Father forced me too!
….. great stufffff!!
This is pathetic…and scary!
not bad…….whatever!!!
#169-I wanted to give someone else a sexually transmitted disease “(e.g.,†“herpes,†AIDS).
What????!!!!
Some people(rapists) are shitty and they deserve it.
So some reasons are good, some bad, some great and some awful. Now, the six million dollar question is, how many of these were miswanting? In other words, “145. I wanted to enhance my reputation.” – so did it? “93. I wanted a ‘‘spiritual’’ experience.” – did you get one? “230. I wanted to forget about my problems.” – did it work? That would be a more interesting piece of research. (Re: good, awful etc. naturally there’s some subjectivity there, but I hope reasonable people agree that giving someone AIDS is bad and expressing real love for them is good).
Numbers 122 add 175 say the exact same thing. This means that some of the reasons are duplicates.
I am quick to say all of these reasons are duplicates. Can be summed into two categories. Reproduction and emotion. Too simple?
Amazing! I love burning calories! :)))
It is incredible that there are so many reasons. Is it joking or that people thought so?
I love to make babies 🙂
Thats one long list of reasons – sad that some of them aren’t the ‘healthiest’ of reasons i.e. gaining control of someone
There may be 237 reasons to have sex and thats alot of reasons. But I’ll stick with my reasons! My wife is boring, a prude and just plain uninteresting in bed. She reads till all hours of the night and I just sleep in my basement apartment I’ve built. Hadn’t had sex and I don’t want it. Its just about 29 years since we had any intimacy or sex, and thats fine with me.
Said it before and I’ll say it again… sexuals are weird.
I wanted to show my complete strength and feelings to my partner
I miss one very important reason and that reason is: It is raining outside!!
I`m happy that in Holland, where I live, it often rains and when it is not raining, then my girlfriend says to me that it is raining outside and I believe her immediately.
