The holidays are fast approaching, as the barrage of advertising reminds us. With them come the usual dose of family stress over gatherings, family relationships, reconnecting with friends, travel and trying to find some meaning in it all.
To help you better cope with the holidays and find new ways to handle potential volatile family situations, we’re pleased to introduce our next e-book: Tending the Family Heart Through the Holidays, by long-time contributor, Marie Hartwell-Walker, Ed.D.
I can’t imagine a more timely resource to help us all deal with this time of the year more effectively and successfully.
And the part I really like — it’s available for only 99 cents.
We’ve collected and revised articles from Dr. Marie Hartwell-Walker written over the years (and added 8 new ones!) that speak to common issues and provide some practical ideas for negotiating the holiday season. Taking better care of yourself through involvement in community activities and celebrations with friends can help the lonely feel a little less alone and those who are in challenging families feel less disappointed. Tending the Family Heart Through the Holidays will also help you nurture your family and add to its sense of warmth and home (in addition to giving you some great, down-to-earth tips on how to cope with it all when it becomes overwhelming or too stressful).
The heart of even the best of families deserves tending and care. With some thoughtfulness and attention, the heart of most families, like the Grinch’s, can grow a size or two this year.
This collection of 31 essays and articles written over the years will provide you with down-to-earth tips and strategies you can use today to help improve your family time this holiday season. Includes a new introduction and epilogue written exclusively for this edition, as well 8 brand new essays; most of the remaining essays for this edition have also been revised and updated.
You probably already know that Dr. Marie has been one of therapists who respond to Ask the Therapist questions at no charge, as well as being a regular contributor to Psych Central for the past six years. She is licensed in Massachusetts as both a psychologist and marriage and family therapist and has been in practice for over 35 years. Currently, she is a psychologist with a state Department of Developmental Services and teaches classes on intellectual disability and mental health at the University of Massachusetts, both on campus and online. Dr. Marie has been married for 42 years and is the proud mother of 4 young adults.

Is a copy only available as a download for the kindle through Amazon? Just curious I didn’t see a link as to how to access this except through Amazon. Thank you.
Hi, yhis is chetan. According to my point of view loneliness makes us to feel very relaxed at some times. The same loneliness makes us to feel unhappy or sad why ? What is the difference where is the variation. I say the variation is in our mind i.e in our thinking when we keep more stress on our mind about loneliness ultimately it leads to various physical imbalances and creates big troubles in thinking ultimately that leads various things…….. finally what i want to say is ” Every thing depends on thinking and the that you are receiving”.
